Two Hikers Missing from Mount Baldy: A Week Apart, A Search Continues
A second hiker, Jin Chung, has gone missing from Mount Baldy.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department has confirmed that Jin Chung was last seen on January 22nd.
Jin Chung was carpooling to Mount Baldy with two other individuals and was supposed to meet back at their vehicle at 2 pm, but he never returned.
The search for Jin Chung continued overnight but did not yield any positive results.
Jin Chung's disappearance comes a week after actor Julian Sands failed to return from the same location.
The rescue operation for Julian Sands has involved the use of helicopters, drones, and infrared devices but no evidence has been found to assist in locating him.
Over the past four weeks, 14 rescue missions have been conducted in and around Mount Baldy, two of which resulted in injuries.
The search for Jin Chung will resume on January 24th, but due to high wind warnings in the area, helicopters will not be used during the operation.
Anyone with information regarding the missing hikers is encouraged to contact the Fontana Sheriff’s Station or Sheriff’s Dispatch and can choose to remain anonymous by using the We-Tip Hotline.
