The Future of Floating Cities: Lazzarini’s $8 Billion Pangeos Project
Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini is creating a floating city, named Pangeos, with the Lazzarini Design Studio.
Pangeos is estimated to cost $8 billion and promises to be the largest and most luxurious marine vessel ever built.
The floating city is being constructed in Saudi Arabia with construction slated to begin at King Abdullah Port in 2033.
Lazzarini views Pangeos as a yacht that can function as a self-sufficient city, capable of floating or anchoring at a pier.
Pangeos has the potential to accommodate up to 60,000 residents and offer urban amenities such as parks, malls, hotels, and transportation.
The floating city is powered by nine high-tech electric engines and features solar panels for a clean energy source.
The vessel’s design includes apartments, overwater villas, shopping centers, nightclubs, and a landing area for flying vehicles.
A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to gather funds, and NFTs are available for virtual ownership of an apartment in Pangeos.
The Lazzarini Design Studio and Saudi Arabia are launching a tera yacht experience in the Metaverse, offering a glimpse of the futuristic floating city.
