Rivian's smallest commercial electric van, the EDV 500, has been spotted in public covered in camouflage, hinting at an impending debut in the first half of 2023.

Until now, Rivian has only delivered the EDV 700 model, which has a 187-inch wheelbase and a storage capacity of up to 660 cubic feet.

The EDV 500 has a shorter, 157-inch wheelbase and a capacity of 500 cubic feet, making it more agile and best suited for last-mile deliveries.

Despite being smaller, the EDV 500 reportedly has a driving range of up to 150 miles and a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 9,350 pounds, the same as the EDV 700.

Rivian was able to ramp up production of its commercial vehicles thanks to a massive order of 100,000 all-electric delivery vans from Amazon.

As of November 2022, Amazon had recieved delivery of over 1,000 EDVs, and has delivered over 10 million packages with the electric vans since adding them to its fleet.

While the EDV 500 is set to begin production in the first half of 2023, the fate of the biggest model, the EDV 900, is unclear as Rivian is reportedly in talks with Amazon to get rid of the exclusivity clause.
