The 35-year-old African elephant traveled for five days in a specially designed iron crate without requiring sedation during the entire trip.

Since 2016, Buenos Aires has transformed its century-old urban zoo into an ecological park, relocating over 1,000 animals to better living conditions.

Pupy will adapt to her new environment at her own pace while remaining separated from Asian elephants at the sanctuary due to natural species differences.

The sanctuary is already home to five Asian elephants, including Mara, another former resident of the Buenos Aires preserve who now walks at least 10 kilometers daily.

The Buenos Aires "Ecopark" will continue housing animals that cannot be transferred elsewhere due to age or logistical impossibilities.
