Lotus's Sleek Electric Fastback Sedan Prototype Spied While Testing In Arctic Circle
Lotus
is developing an all-electric fastback sedan, codenamed as Type 133, to challenger to high-end models like the Porsche Taycan.
A prototype Lotus electric sedan, which may be named Envya or Etude, has been spotted testing in the North of Scandinavia, near the Arctic Circle.
The prototype provided a good look of the
Porsche
Taycan competitor.
It featured split headlights, rear light bar, diamond-pattern active lower grille, rising belt line, and newer pop-out door handles, among other design cues.
The interiors of the Lotus EV will mostly offer a full glass roof, a four-seater configuration, and a full-length center
console
.
The powertrain of the new Lotus EV is unknown at this time, but the automaker might end up using the dual-motor AWD setup from the Eletre R.
The same powertrain produces 905 horsepower and 985 Newton-meters of torque.
Despite no info about the powertrain, the Lotus electric sedan is expected to have superior performance with its more aerodynamic and probably lighter body.
The Lotus electric sedan prototype was spotted being towed, which is not new for early development test prototypes.
Lotus is set to present its Type 133 electric sedan later this year, and sales might begin in 2024.
The addition of an electric fastback sedan shows Lotus's commitment to electrification and their desire to challenge the high-end EV market.
