Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages Takes a Step Toward Sustainability with New Packaging Method
Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages will adopt fiber-based paper packaging for its soda can packs.
Plastic rings pose a threat to marine species and contribute to ocean waste.
Liberty aims to reduce plastic usage by 75,000 pounds annually with the new packaging.
The new packaging is compact, lightweight, and easily recyclable.
Liberty is the first bottler in the US to adopt this innovative packaging system.
The change will be visible in soda cans in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.
Other beverage brands, including Coors Light, Corona, and PepsiCo, are also reducing plastic waste.
The packaging was designed by Graphic Packaging International.
Co-owner Paul Mulligan expressed excitement about being the first in the US to implement this new packaging system.
