HP Hood LLC issued a voluntary recall for five batches of 96 oz Lactaid milk containers due to potential almond contamination
The recall affects 27 U.S. states, including the tri-state area, where the products were distributed.
Undeclared almond pieces were identified in the product during routine maintenance checks, posing a serious risk to individuals with almond allergies.
The FDA is overseeing the recall process to ensure consumer safety and has warned that consuming the product could trigger severe or potentially fatal allergic reactions in those allergic to almonds.
Containers with the code 51-4109 P2 and use-by dates from November 22 to December 5, 2024, are part of the recall.
The recall includes multiple varieties of Lactaid milk, such as whole milk, 2%, 1%, fat-free, and calcium-fortified, all in the 96 oz containers.
To date, no reports of illness related to the recall have been reported, according to the company and FDA.
Consumers can return affected products for a full refund or exchange and contact Hood Consumer Affairs for further assistance at 800-242-2423, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
