Gavin Newsom, Governor of California has vowed to reform the state's environmental law because as per him it was weaponized by wealthy homeowners to stop housing development for students at the University of California, Berkeley.
The governor's statement came after a state appeals court blocked the housing complex development at Berkeley's People's Park, which is owned by the University of California, Berkeley, for years or even decades.
The appeals court ruling came after the University of California failed while planning new housing to assess potential noise impacts from student parties in residential neighborhoods near the campus that are generally loud.
