Entering the Quantum Age: China Joins the Ranks of US and Canada with Wuyuan Delivery
Origin Quantum, a China-based company, delivers its first commercial quantum computer, Wuyuan.
Wuyuan puts China in the ranks of only three nations to have entered the quantum computing arena.
The Wuyuan quantum computer uses superconducting chip technology and comes equipped with its own proprietary software stack.
Wuyuan is said to boast 24 qubits and includes an operating system, software, and cloud computing platform.
Quantum computers have a wide range of applications, from solving mysteries of the universe to decoding codes, creating efficient medicine, or even potentially being used for mass destruction.
Origin Quantum is working towards an even more advanced system, Wukong, which is slated for release soon.
The delivery of Wuyuan is a significant milestone in China’s journey into the world of quantum computing, being the first machine developed and built for commercial use.
Despite Origin Quantum being the only Chinese firm to assert delivery of a commercial quantum computer, it was not blacklisted by the US government last year.
The Wuyuan appears to be a standalone product at present, but is reportedly available to other buyers.
