The majority of cases involve EziCare's product and the infections have affected various areas such as the cornea, respiratory tract, and sepsis.
EziCare eye drops lack preservatives that prevent bacterial growth. The CDC discovered open bottles of EziCare tested positive for Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria.
EziCare has promptly halted distribution and sale of the product and is advising customers against further use.
The CDC has issued a warning for consumers experiencing symptoms such as eye discharge, pain, and blurred vision.
EziCare, in collaboration with the US FDA, is working to recall the product which is sold under different brand names in other countries.
