The Crew-6 mission is set to make history by bringing the second UAE astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS) for a long-duration stay.
Sultan Al-Neyadi, a member of the Crew-6 mission, will become the first UAE astronaut to complete a long-duration spaceflight.
The mission includes four astronauts, two Americans, one Arab, and a Russian, who will travel to the ISS aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft on a Falcon 9 rocket.
The launch of the Crew-6 mission will be livestreamed by NASA via the NASA TV channel, providing viewers with a front-row seat to the historic event.
Commander Stephen Bowen, Pilot Warren “Woody” Hoburg, Mission Specialist Sultan Alneyadi, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev are the crewmates for the Crew-6 mission.
The Crew-6 mission is part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program, which seeks to develop and operate a new generation of spacecraft and launch vehicles for human spaceflight.
The launch will be the sixth crew rotation mission with astronauts using the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft on a Falcon 9 rocket to the orbiting laboratory.
The UAE is a signatory to the NASA-led Artemis Accords, which establishes principles for peaceful cooperation and exploration of the moon and other celestial bodies.
The livestream of the launch and docking of the Dragon spacecraft at the ISS will give viewers an inside look at the science, technology, and teamwork that makes human spaceflight possible.01:06 AM
