Baer's Pochard Numbers Surge at Hengshui Lake

Nearly 120 Baer's Pochards have been observed wintering at Hengshui Lake nature reserve in North China's Hebei province.

The critically endangered diving ducks were photographed resting on the lake's surface by local shutterbug Zhang Xuefeng.

The Baer's Pochard population was first discovered at Hengshui Lake by research teams in 2000.
