\A food recall has been issued for Vaaniy Foods brand Frozen Porotta across Ontario due to undeclared milk in the product. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) identified the problem through routine testing, prompting immediate action to protect consumers with milk allergies or sensitivities.
The recall affects 400g packages containing six pieces of frozen porotta, a South Indian-style flatbread. Affected products can be identified by the UPC code 8 902550 003475 and best before date of August 2026. This follows an earlier recall in February of the same product in a larger catering pack size.
While no adverse reactions have been reported so far, the CFIA warns that consuming the product could cause serious or life-threatening reactions in people with milk allergies. Consumers who purchased the affected product should either return it to the store for a refund or dispose of it properly.
“Do not consume recalled products to which you are allergic or sensitive as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction,” the CFIA stated in its official notice.
The agency is conducting a thorough food safety investigation that could lead to additional recalls. Meanwhile, it’s verifying that Vaaniy Food Inc. is removing all recalled products from store shelves across Ontario.
