SpaceX’s historic orbital launch attempt was halted due to a frozen pressure valve. The huge Starship rocket stack was filled with propellant before the call-off.
The SpaceX’s high-stakes Starship is predicted to revolutionize the next generation of reusable rockets. The Super Heavy/Starship rocket is the largest and most powerful rocket ever built.
The rocket is capable of generating a staggering 16.7 million pounds of thrust at liftoff. Many of SpaceX’s Starship prototypes have ended in huge explosions over the last few years. The Starship is viewed as the key to the company’s future by SpaceX. Elon Musk called it a day by acknowledging the scrub as a lesson learnt
NASA is paying SpaceX billions to develop a variant of the Starship to carry astronauts to the moon. This morning’s attempt involved a Starship prototype stacked on top of an equally massive Super Heavy booster.
The Super Heavy booster alone features a whopping 33 Raptor engines. SpaceX treated the scrubbed attempt as a wet dress rehearsal. The company plans to retry the launch in a few days.
