Karmactive TeamSinghraj Adhana, Indian shooter claimed a silver medal in the Mixed 50m pistol SH1 and a bronze medal at the Men’s P1 10 meter air pistol SH1 event. He shot a total of 216.8 to finish the event in third place. Manish Narwal, who topped the qualifications with 575, was eliminated in the seventh place when it mattered the most. However, Manish and Singhraj won gold and silver respectively at the 50m pistol SH1 event.
The 39-year-old designed and built his own shooting range at home to practice and train himself during the pandemic. It was tough for him to compete after picking up the sport at 35, but he did not give up, working extremely hard to gain two medals at the paralympics.
Singhraj was admitted in hospital due to corona in May 2021. For inspiration he used to look at pictures of his grandfather who was a distinguished army veteran. Singhraj also struggles with diabetes which created additional issues during his corona treatment. To control his blood sugar levels Adhana had to try alternative methods.
Singhraj had contracted polio virus at the age of one and used crutches till the age of 15. After he lost his grandfather in 1992 Singhraj continued managing his family affairs until shooting was introduced to him. He eventually got into shooting after the age 35.
Adhana lost the second spot to China’s Huang Xing woh finished at total of 237.5 for the silver medal. Singhraj won a gold medal in P4 team and silver in P4 individual events in Chateauroux World Cup 2018, France. He went on to get several medals in 4 years upto the bronze medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
