The architectural and design business Alloy specializes in real estate in New York City, especially in Brooklyn. The sustainable living style of its most recent project, a 44-story residential building located at 505 State Street in central Brooklyn, stands out for its sustainable living model. All of the building’s systems, including the elevators, air conditioning, heat, and swimming pools, run entirely on renewable energy.

A complicated network of boilers and gas pipes is frequently used in the skyscraper design of the 505 State Street building. High-capacity electrical cables and extremely efficient, all-electric HVAC systems are used in Alloy’s design instead. To provide a 100% local source of renewable energy, the project incorporates a community solar effort. Previously more prevalent in smaller and single-family structures, this strategy is in line with the rising desire for all-electric buildings.

The building has 441 units, 45 of which are classified as income-restricted. These apartments have nine to twelve foot ceilings, oak wood flooring, exposed concrete, and smart home appliances. Residents may now use their smartphones to optimize how much energy they use. The apartments also include triple-glazed windows that open to let in fresh air, which improves the energy efficiency of the structure.

In order to reduce carbon emissions, Alloy is also building the Alloy Block, a city block in Brooklyn that will have the newest energy-saving methods. This entails building two schools, one of which will serve as the first passive house schools in New York State and the other as the new location for the Khalil Gibran International Academy. Alloy’s innovations are centered on energy efficiency, which is in line with more general environmental objectives. Alloy is in favor of the US Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Initiative, which aims to increase energy efficiency in all American homes, businesses, and industrial facilities. Since its start, this effort has prevented 155 million metric tons of carbon emissions and saved participants nearly $15 billion.

As part of the mixed-use Alloy Block development at the intersection of State Street and Flatbush Avenue, the Alloy Development has begun leasing for 395 units at 505 State Street. The building’s unique all-electric infrastructure and emphasis on renewable energy sources further highlight the firm’s commitment to sustainable urban living, as does its proximity to Atlantic Terminal, the Brooklyn Cultural District, and Barclays Center.
