Nuna Recalls 608,786 Rava Car Seats Over Harness Defect—Is Your Child’s Safety at Risk?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Nuna Baby Essentials is recalling 608,786 Rava child car seats manufactured between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023, due to a defective harness adjuster button.

“Debris may enter the front harness adjuster and cause the mechanism to fail, resulting in a loose harness,” stated NHTSA in their official recall notice. A malfunctioning harness poses serious safety risks during vehicle crashes, potentially compromising child passenger protection.

The recall affects multiple product models including CS-50, CS05101, CS05103, CS05104, CS05105, CS05106, CS05107, CS05109, CS05110, CS05111, CS05114, and CS05115.

Safety Investigation and Response

The NHTSA investigation was initiated after receiving complaints about the harness adjuster mechanism. The investigation revealed that debris accumulation in the front harness adjuster could prevent proper tightening of the restraint system.

In response to these findings, Nuna will provide affected customers with a free remedy kit containing a new seat pad and cleaning materials to maintain proper harness adjuster function.
