A missing food label has sparked safety concerns across 13 states. Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC is recalling its Berry Buddies snack boxes because they contain wheat and eggs not listed on the package.
The recall affects 694 cases of “Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes” bento boxes. These snack packs are found in the refrigerated sections, specifically in produce or deli departments at Kroger and Meijer stores.
“This type of labeling oversight can have serious consequences,” says Eran Mizrahi, CEO of Source86. A simple label mix-up during production means someone with food allergies could eat these snacks without knowing the risks.

The FDA warns that eating these unmarked ingredients could trigger severe reactions. For people with wheat or egg allergies, eating these products could lead to serious allergic reactions.
The affected boxes are easy to spot: look for 2.1-ounce plastic containers with lot number 1097901 and an expiration date of February 25, 2025. They were sold in Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

While no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem, the danger is real. For people with wheat or egg allergies, eating these snacks could cause anything from mild discomfort to a life-threatening reaction requiring immediate medical care.
The recall was initiated after discovering the incorrect back label on the package. The investigation showed a production label changeover failure caused the problem, which has since been corrected.

What should you do? Check your fridge. If you find these snack boxes, you can:
- Return them to the store for a full refund
- Throw them away if you have concerns
- Keep them only if no one in your family has wheat or egg allergies
