Kia has rolled out its latest electric offerings at the 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, strengthening its electric vehicle lineup with the EV4 sedan/hatchback and the Concept EV2 small SUV.
Kia EV4: Practicality Meets Performance
The EV4, Kia’s first electric sedan and hatchback, comes in two body styles and aims to expand choices in an EV market dominated by SUVs. Built on Kia’s 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV4 offers two battery configurations: a 58.3 kWh standard pack and an 81.4 kWh long-range option.
The long-range sedan boasts an impressive 630 km (391 miles) WLTP range, while the standard model delivers 430 km (267 miles). The hatchback variant, which will be sold primarily in Europe, offers up to 590 km (367 miles) of range with the long-range battery.

Both versions feature a front-mounted 150 kW motor delivering 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.4 seconds (standard battery) or 7.7 seconds (long-range battery), with a top speed of 170 km/h (106 mph).
Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Song emphasized the company’s commitment to electric mobility: “Kia EV Day shows our vision for a sustainable future where electric mobility is accessible to all. The EV4 embodies that vision perfectly as a statement of our commitment to innovative design, cutting-edge technology, and a connected driving experience that excites and inspires.”
Charging and Connectivity
Despite using a 400V platform instead of the faster-charging 800V system found in the EV6, the EV4 can still charge from 10-80% in just 31 minutes for the long-range model (29 minutes for standard).

The interior features a 30-inch widescreen display connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), combining three screens (12.3-inch, 5.3-inch, and 12.3-inch). Entertainment options include YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, games, and karaoke, with support for various content formats.
Additional features include Digital Key 2.0 (compatible with Apple Watch), Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities, i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking, and advanced driver assistance systems including Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2).
Production and Availability
The EV4 sedan will be manufactured at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in Korea, while the hatchback will be produced in Slovakia. Production begins in mid-March for the Korean sedan model, with the European hatchback following in the second half of 2025. North American production is scheduled for later in 2025.

Sales will commence in Korea in March, with Europe following in the second half of the year, and the United States after that. According to Mr. Song, Kia plans to produce 160,000 units of the EV4, with 80,000 destined for North America. European pricing will start at approximately €37,000 ($38,500).
Concept EV2: Urban Mobility Reimagined
Alongside the EV4, Kia unveiled the Concept EV2, its vision for a future B-segment electric SUV. The compact urban-focused vehicle features innovative design elements including rear-hinged doors, triangular speakers that can be detached and used as portable speakers, and a flexible interior with multi-configurable seating.
“With the Concept EV2, we challenged ourselves to create a vehicle that defies expectations, offering innovative technology and practicality beyond its size,” said Ho Sung Song. “This concept previews Kia’s future vision to redefine the segment, bringing a new level of sophistication and usability to urban drivers.”

The production version of the EV2 is expected to launch in Europe and other regions in 2026, with a target starting price of €30,000, though it’s not planned for U.S. release.
Commercial Expansion with PV5
Kia also showcased its PV5 lineup, the first models from its new “Platform Beyond Vehicles” (PBV) commercial EV range. These modular vehicles come in multiple configurations including Passenger, Cargo, Crew, and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) variants.

The PV5 models will feature either 51.5 kWh or 71.2 kWh NMC battery packs, with the PV5 Passenger offering up to 400 km (249 miles) of range with the larger pack. All versions can charge from 10-80% in 30 minutes.
PV5 sales will begin in Korea and Europe in July, followed by additional markets in 2026. The PV5 Cargo will have a starting price of €35,000 including VAT.

Staying the Course on Electrification
Despite concerns about tariffs and competition from Chinese brands, Kia executives reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its electric vehicle strategy. Mr. Song acknowledged that Chinese competitors present challenges with significantly lower prices but maintained that Kia would continue to improve its technology and customer experience rather than reverting to internal combustion engines.
This steadfast approach has contributed to Kia’s growing global market share in the electric vehicle segment, positioning the brand as an innovator in affordable electric mobility.
