Google Maps a Single Cubic Millimeter of the Human Brain, Revealing Details in a 1.4 Petabyte Dataset

The largest and most detailed map of the human brain yet was recently unveiled by Google researchers. It described just 1 cubic millimetre of brain tissue—the size of a grain of rice—but at high enough resolution to show individual neurons and their connections to each other, requiring 1.4 petabytes of data to encode.
