Best known for its Alexa-style smart speaker, Baidu’s Xiaodu unit plans to launch a smartphone next week. Xiaodu will launch the smart phone at the company’s headquarters in Beijing. As Xiaodu faces a shrinking handset market at home, the company aims to enhance its ecosystem of hardware devices.
Without breaking down sales from sales from Xiaodu in its financial report, Baidu relies on advertising for more than half of its revenues. An AI-powered chatbot, Ernie, was launched by Baidu in March of this year.
A race has been spurred among Chinese tech firms and startups by the success of Microsoft-backed ChatGPT to create a competitor. At the beginning, the Ernie Bot was only accessible to a select group of users with invitation codes.
Now the companies are allowed by Baidu’s cloud platform to integrate the bot into their products by submitting an application. A generative product, Ernie Bot, was introduced by Baidu based on its big Ernie family.
Developing its AI capabilities for over 10 years, Baidu has developed an industrial-grade, knowledge-enhanced Big Model, ERNIE. ERNIE Bot is designed to facilitate intelligent transformation across various industries such as finance, energy, media, and public affairs.
In order to implement ERNIE Bot for front-, middle-, and back-office functions, Quhuo, a Chinese service provider, has collaborated with Baidu. Human languages can be interpreted with accurate, logical, and fluent responses, almost on par with human beings, by ERNIE Bot.
Ernie Bot’s semantic computing technology and intelligent dialogue engine will be accessed by Quhuo to improve its customer service level. ERNIE Bot’s memory mechanisms, contextual understanding, and dialogue planning abilities will be utilized by Quhuo to improve front-end business efficiency.
AI will also be used by Quhuo to support middle- and back-end business functions, including business review support, data support, and predictive analysis. More personalized services while simultaneously bringing users a more efficient and convenient experience will be provided by the integration of ERNIE Bot into Quhuo’s products.
