One of the most favourite God of Maharashtra is Ganesh. Usually Ganesh festival is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapad. It lasts for ten days from Ganesh Chaturthi to Anant Chaturdashi. But some people, especially in Konkan, also celebrate it in the month of Magha. Now this Maghi Ganesh celebration has begun from Ganesh Jayanti which fell on Friday, the 4 February, 2022. It will continue for ten days I.e. upto15th of this month.
As l appealed to all the Ganesh Bhaktas in September, 2021, through the above video, to worship an eco- friendly Ganpati idol, I am sure you are not using POP (plaster of paris) for making a statue of your Ishta Daivat that is Vinayak who removes all the obstacles from your path.
In this period of Covid pandemic let us use simple clay to make Ganesh idols as was done during the time of Lokmanya Tilak, who popularised the public Ganesh festival or Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav for gaining freedom from British rule. While celebrating the Amrut Mahotsav of our Swarajya , let us pray : Vakratunda mahakay sooryakoti samaprabha, nirvighnam kuru me deo sarvakaryeshu sarvada. O unstraight headed & big-bodied God, whose aura is like that of a crore of suns, make all of my undertakings obstacleless for all times!
