He is now serving as CEO of the marine technology company Vessev. Under Laakmann’s leadership, the New Zealand-based company unveiled the VS-9, dubbed the “world’s first premium electric hydrofoil tourist boat.” The 8.8-meter long VS-9 can carry up to 10 passengers plus a crew member at speeds up to approximately 30 knots, or 34.5 miles per hour, with a cruising range of 40-50 nautical miles.
