Authorities across Queensland and northern New South Wales have ordered hundreds of school closures as Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches the heavily populated southeast coast. More than 600 Queensland schools will shut their doors on Thursday and Friday, while 122 schools in northern NSW have closed from Wednesday through Friday.
