Coles Supermarkets Australia has issued a recall for their Chicken and Salad Sandwich due to the presence of undeclared milk, posing serious health risks to consumers with milk allergies or intolerances.
The affected 194g sandwiches were available for purchase between February 27 and February 28, 2025, in Coles Supermarkets and selected Coles Local stores across Victoria. The products were also sold through Coles Online rapid delivery and delivery partners including DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Yello.
The recall specifically targets products with a “Use By” date of March 2, 2025.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published the recall notice after the allergen was discovered missing from product labels. Undeclared allergens are a common reason for food recalls, as they can cause serious health reactions in affected individuals.
Ensuring that all potential allergens are clearly listed on food labels is crucial to prevent allergic reactions in consumers. Even small amounts of allergens can trigger reactions in sensitive individuals.
Health authorities have advised that customers with milk allergies or intolerances should not consume the product and should seek medical advice if they have concerns about their health. Those with milk allergies may experience adverse reactions if they consume products containing milk.
