A Colchester man who was previously banned from keeping animals has received a suspended jail sentence after authorities discovered dead wildlife in his freezer and evidence he was continuing to capture animals despite a court order prohibiting him from doing so.
David Thompson, 55, of Harwich Road, Colchester, was sentenced on February 5 at Colchester Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of breaching a three-year disqualification order initially imposed in April 2021.
History of Animal Neglect
Thompson’s legal troubles began in 2019 when police officers and RSPCA inspectors raided his rescue center, D and K Fuzzy Ferrets and Fox Rescue. What they discovered shocked even experienced animal welfare officers.
