BYD, a probable Tesla challenger in new energy vehicles, unveiled the SEAL earlier this year. Seal is a dynamic and intelligent electric vehicle, hinting at BYD’s persistence in bringing up future technology. The SEAL boasts a 4D dynamic exterior, embodying the essence of the ocean with its Ocean X design language. “The BYD SEAL is not just a car, but a mobile space integrating technology, art, and life,” stated BYD’s Branding and PR Director, Stella Li. The vehicle’s interior is inspired by the concept of “Dynamic Elegance,” blending luxury with functionality.
BYD’s SEAL is equipped with the DiPilot advanced driving assistance system, ensuring enhanced safety and driving experience. The DiPilot system integrates 5G, V2X, and AI, offering features like automatic parking and traffic jam assistance. BYD showcased six electric vehicles at the Internationale Automobilausstellung (IAA) in Munich from 5-10 September 2023, including the Seal. In less than a year, BYD introduced six electric vehicles to the European market, emphasizing its rapid expansion.
New technologies which are integrated in BYD vehicles, such as CTB (Cell-to-Body) and iTAC (Intelligent Torque Adaption Control), were also unveiled at the event. The IAA event marked the European debut of BYD’s luxury sub-brand, DENZA, with the spotlight on the DENZA D9, a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. BYD’s entry into the European passenger car market began with the debut of three models at the Paris Motor Show 2022. The BYD DOLPHIN, a C-segment hatchback, was introduced in the summer of 2023, followed by the BYD SEAL in the autumn.

In 2022, BYD’s new energy vehicle sales exceeded 1.86 million, showcasing remarkable growth. By July 2023, BYD’s cumulative sales volume reached 1.5 million units, with 92,469 units sold overseas. Since 2010, BYD has been expanding its global presence, introducing electric buses and taxis for public transit electrification. BYD’s electric public transport solutions are now operational in over 400 cities across more than 70 countries.

In July 2023, BYD announced plans to establish three new factories in Brazil, strengthening its industry position.
