It’s said that health is wealth. To keep healthy, we need medical aid in case of sickness or to prevent an epidemic. Dr. Roy was awarded the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. Doctors are supposed to serve patients throughout their life.
Now, there are different types of doctors. There are general practitioners, called GPs. Then there are specialists in various fields of healthcare. There are dentists who specialize in dentistry. There are civil and military doctors. In fact, one can become a Lieutenant General or equivalent in the navy or Air Force by joining the Armed Forces Medical Services. The Army has an Army Dental Corps. Lieutenant General Madhuri Kanitkar is the Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra Medical University, Nashik. Doctors contribute to our well-being and health. Many doctors also spend their lifetime finding cures for diseases. Sir Ronald Ross discovered the cause of malaria as a mosquito. In India, there are Central and State Ministries to look after our health. At the Center, there is a Department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) in addition to allopathy branches of healthcare. Even after 77 years of independence, the rural areas are still away from the best healthcare as doctors are generally not willing to work in villages. So, governments have to make a condition of serving a minimum period in rural areas if one wants to be a government doctor.
