In a significant stride towards sustainable mobility, Hyundai’s XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck has been honored with the Mobility GREEN AWARD at GTF Connect Los Angeles, spotlighting its innovative technology and zero-emission transport solutions. The award, presented in Hollywood, California, underscores the vehicle’s potential in reshaping the future of efficient, sustainable transportation.

Mark Freymueller, Senior Vice President, Global Commercial Vehicle Business at Hyundai Motor Company, expressed, “It is very gratifying to all the teams involved in developing the XCIENT Fuel Cell to receive important honors such as this GREEN AWARD as a clear confirmation of their hard work to meet the stringent demands of commercial vehicle operators while going for zero-emission transportation.”

The Hyundai’s XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck, launched with a focus on the commercial shipping sector, offers a noteworthy emissions-free profile, presenting itself as a sustainable mobility solution that not only aims to reduce carbon emissions but also effectively addresses global transportation needs. The vehicle’s durability and fuel efficiency are particularly tailored to meet the demands of commercial fleet operators.

Since its initial launch in 2020, the XCIENT Fuel Cell has been deployed in five countries, including Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Korea, and New Zealand, marking itself as the only heavy-duty fuel cell electric model with a proven record of real-world application and technological reliability.

In May 2023, Hyundai introduced the commercialization model of the XCIENT Fuel Cell tractor in the United States, equipped with two 90-kW hydrogen fuel cell systems (total 180 kW power) and a 350-kW e-motor. The tractor, with a gross combination weight of a maximum 82,000 lbs., pairs short refueling times with a driving range of over 450 miles per charge, even when fully loaded.

The Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell incorporates the world-leading hydrogen fuel cell system offered by HTWO, Hyundai Motor Group’s fuel cell system-based hydrogen business brand. HTWO’s business encompasses the application of Hyundai’s proprietary fuel cell systems for various forms of mobility, including advanced air mobility, automobiles, vessels, and trains, as well as for stationary power generation.
