Aldi Recalls Baby Potatoes for Hidden Milk Allergen

Aldi has recalled its Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter after discovering the products contain milk not listed on the packaging. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall on April 8, 2025, warning that the mislabeled product poses health risks for people with milk allergies or intolerances.

The recall specifically affects 385g packs with a use-by date of April 12, 2025, and barcode 4061463488152.

“This product contains milk, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents,” the FSA stated in its food alert.

Safety Concerns

Milk allergies affect approximately 2-3% of children in the UK, with most outgrowing the condition by age five. However, milk allergies can cause serious reactions in sensitive individuals, ranging from mild symptoms like hives and stomach upset to potentially life-threatening responses.

Lactose intolerance, while not life-threatening, can cause significant discomfort for affected consumers, including bloating, gas, and digestive issues.

An Aldi spokesperson addressed the issue: “Our supplier is recalling Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter because it contains the allergen milk which is not listed on the packaging. Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given. We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards.”
