Goodyear’s Latest Breakthrough: A 90% Sustainable Tire for Road Use

Goodyear’s 90% sustainable demonstration tire has passed both regulatory & internal testing.

Compared to traditional tires this demonstration tire has lower rolling resistance which helps it to leave reduced carbon footprints and save fuel.

In 2023 they are working on their supply base to sell the demonstration tires they have created with 70% sustainable material content in January 2022.

The tire’s main compound is carbon black which provides long-lasting life.

This 90% sustainable tire features four different types of carbon black produced from methane, carbon dioxide, plant-based oil, and pyrolysis oil.

Carbon black technology helps in reducing carbon emissions while soybean oil keeps the commands of the tire stable even in extreme shifts in temperatures.

RHA silica which is naturally produced from rice husk waste is used in Goodyear’s tires since 2018 to improve grip and reduce fuel consumption.
