The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for multiple Hansang brand frozen fish cake products distributed across Canada. The recall, announced on March 1, 2025, was triggered after CFIA testing found these products contain egg that isn’t declared on the label.
Products Affected
Four specific Hansang products are involved in this recall:
- Assorted Fish Cake with Katsuobushi Soup Stock (960 g)
- Frozen Fried Fish Cake (328 g)
- Frozen Fried Fish Cake & Rice Cake (404 g)
- Frozen Fried Fish Cake (Mala Flavour) (345 g)
The recall applies to all codes of these products where egg is not listed on the label.
Health Risks
For individuals with egg allergies, consuming these products could trigger serious or even life-threatening reactions. The CFIA classifies this as a Class 1 recall, their highest risk category.
So far, there have been no reported allergic reactions associated with these products, according to the recall notice.
