Vornado Air LLC has issued an urgent recall of 7,780 VH2 Whole Room Heaters due to electric shock and fire hazards. The recall specifically targets units sold exclusively on Amazon between August and October 2024 for approximately $90.

The Kansas-based manufacturer identified a critical safety flaw where the power cord can partially detach from the heater enclosure. This defect may lead to cord damage over time, creating risks of electric shock and fire. While no injuries have been reported, the company is taking proactive measures to prevent potential incidents.

Identifying Affected Units

The recall covers off-white VH2 Whole Room Heaters with specific date codes “JUL24” or “AUG24” printed on the silver rating label underneath the unit. These heaters feature thermostatic temperature control, two heat settings, and both automatic and continuous fan operation options. The brand name “Vornado” appears on the front with a distinctive red “V” logo.

Consumer Response Protocol

Vornado has established multiple channels for affected customers to seek assistance:

  • A dedicated toll-free hotline: (844) 205-7978, operating weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT
  • Email support at [email protected]
  • Online verification at www.vornado.com/recalls/vh2

The company is offering free replacement heaters to affected customers after confirming their product’s inclusion in the recall.

The timing of this recall coincides with significant winter weather events across the United States, including snowfall reaching the Gulf Coast. This weather pattern has increased reliance on portable heating devices, emphasizing the importance of heater safety.
