Schiaparelli’s spring 2023 couture collection, which was showcased at Paris Couture Week, features realistic animal heads as a nod to the three beasts of Dante’s ‘Inferno’, including leopard, wolf and lion heads. Kylie Jenner, who wore the lion head, had emphasized the head was not real and “manmade” in her Instagram post. Schiaparelli defended its designs on their Instagram account, stating that the animal heads were crafted from hand-sculpted foam and wool and silk faux fur, and were hand-painted to look as life-like as possible, as a way to celebrate the glory of the natural world.
