Chandrayaan-2's 2021 Photos Confirm Apollo 11 and 12 Moon Landing Sites

Recent photos taken by India's moon orbiter show Apollo 11 and 12's landing spots from over 50 years ago.

These photos show where astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first walked on the moon in July 1969 during Apollo 11.

While Armstrong and Aldrin explored the moon, astronaut Michael Collins stayed in the spacecraft orbiting above.

A few months later in November 1969, Apollo 12 astronauts Pete Conrad and Alan Bean became the third and fourth people to walk on the moon.

India's moon orbiter, called Chandrayaan-2, took these photos in April 2021, after launching in July 2019.
