With the first ever satellite launched by NASA in the year of 1958, our contemporary lives have become greatly dependent, directly or indirectly on satellites.

More than tens of thousand satellites have been launched so far, and they play a very crucial, almost primary role in the current communication system starting from phone calls to any and all kinds of internet services.

Satellites and network development is one of the most worked-upon fields, and amidst this busy ground the engineers from Northeastern University, based in Boston, have embarked on an ambitious program that could change the fate of technology for greater good.

Making sure that high speed internet connection reaches remote areas in the world and guaranteeing connectivity is maintained even in the face of a natural disaster crisis, are the primary targets.

This wireless network would provide a completely new approach to the satellite communications system, despite being launched in a field so competitive where various companies already provide a basic satellite connectivity feature.

A better global connectivity will be available, due to this system’s faster satellite connections, once it is successfully launched.

This innovation aligns to few other initiatives and thus has received expertise from various areas such as NU engineering faculty, NASA CubeSat launch initiative, Morehead State University and so on.

This system would offer extremely high speed required for transition from 5G to 6G networks when needed and would enable real time conversations through video and/or audio streaming.
