DST or Daylight Saving Time was once known as the “War Time” for it first came into use during the first world war that’s around 1918, it was withdrawn until the second world war.

For almost twenty years after WW2 there was no set time across the country regarding DST, then in 1966 Congress passed the Uniform Time Act making a standard time all over the country.

While making a standard time for the country, the US Congress also put uniform days to DST that is from last Sunday of April to last Sunday of October.

This span has however been extended over the years now commencing from March to November.

The president-elect of USA Donald Trump expressed that he finds the entire concept of DST to be of great inconvenience and wants to eliminate the practice.

He has been supported by his DOGE nominees Musk and Ramaswamy who also find the system to be annoying and inefficient.

Not only them, a large part of the country wants to make DST permanent, but this decision is subject to a lot of factors because different studies show different results, however the public might be ready for a change in yearly resetting of clocks.

Some states like Hawaii, Arizona, Puerto Rico and so on don’t observe the practice of DST, they opted out of the system by passing state laws.

Countries like Russia and Turkey practiced DST for a while but stopped and made DST permanent in the last decade.

DST also affects the health in various ways, however changing DST would also need careful considerations for it will affect the interest of various stakeholders.
